KINDER, La. — The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana has partnered with a Chicago-based developer to offer online games and a social sportsbook at its casino.

Via Rush Street Interactive’s Casino4Fun platform, the Coushatta Casino Resort will offer an array of 300 online slots, table games and live dealer games, as well as free access to a virtual sportsbook, according to a statement.

The platform is built on the same technology as Rush Street’s real-money gaming websites and sportsbooks. According to the company, the social gaming offered via the Casino4Fun websites helps casino operators extend their brands and player databases, as well as increase return visitors to their brick and mortar casinos.

“Our new website delivers social casino gaming excitement directly to our guests’ fingertips — anytime, anywhere,” Scott Sirois, general manager at Coushatta Casino Resort, said in a statement. “With hundreds of casino games available on the website, some with the option of interacting with a live dealer, this brings us to a new level of guest service in the gaming industry.”

The social gaming also is intended to get customers used to the platform as more areas of the country push forward with new laws allowing online betting and sportsbooks, according to Rush Street President Richard Schwartz, who noted deploying Casino4Fun now will allow adopters “to position themselves early for success once online gaming is legalized in their state.”

“This partnership will provide them with a powerful marketing tool to increase their current casino customer engagement, reactivate lapsed players, and acquire new customers cost-efficiently,” Schwartz stated.

Recently, the Manistee, Mich.-based Little River Band of Ottawa Indians partnered with Rush Street to operate its retail sportsbook inside the Little River Casino Resort, as Native News Online previously reported. The deal also includes plans to launch co-branded online sports betting and online casino gaming once allowed by state rules, according to a statement.

The Coushatta Casino Resort, located about 65 miles from Lafayette in southwest Louisiana, offers more than 2,000 slot machines, 65 table games, poker, live bingo and off-track betting. The complex also features two hotels and an RV park, plus the 18-hole Koasati Pines golf course.

The 865-member Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana owns the 100,000-square-foot casino, which employs 2,400 people.

“We look forward to working together to build Coushatta Casino Resort’s online database through strategic marketing and promotions, which will increase interest in its property, which in turn, we expect to help generate more revenues,” Schwartz stated.

It's December 2020, can you help...

We’re asking our readers for a little help as 2020 draws to a close. If you can afford it, we hope you’ll consider a one-time donation of $5 or more to help fund our Indigenous-led coverage of important news throughout Indian Country. Covering the news hasn’t been easy this year, but we believe it’s been critically important given the changes and upheaval we’ve experienced — from COVID-19 and the 2020 Census, to issues of racial equity, efforts to suppress the Native vote, and far too many stories of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls.

Because we believe everyone in Indian Country deserves equal access to news and commentary pertaining to them, their relatives and their communities, the story you’ve just finished was free — and we want to keep it that way, for all readers. But we hope it inspires you to make a gift to Native News Online so that we can continue publishing more stories that make a difference to Native people, whether they live on or off the reservation. Your donation will help us keep producing quality journalism and elevating Indigenous voices. Any contribution of any amount, big or small, gives us a better, stronger future and allows us to remain a force for change. Donate to Native News Online today and support independent Indigenous journalism. Thank you.
